Mr. Sohailuddin Alavi is an HR & OD consultant and author. He has more than thirty years of hands-on experience in HR & OD consulting and management skills training. He has authored books on management and organizational behavior. He is a regular contributor of articles in the Chartered Accountants Magazine of ICMAP and The Journal of the Institute of Bankers in Pakistan. He also taught for ten years in BBA and MBA programs at various HEC-recognized institutions. His work exposure also includes three years as an International Training Adviser at the Central Bank of Afghanistan, Kabul.
He has worked on governance, human resources, organization development, and employee development projects in the government and corporate settings, in Pakistan and Afghanistan. His recent assignment was as General Manager (Human Resources) at Bahria Foundation. Before assuming the full-time position at Bahria Foundation, he was an HR Consultant to Bahria Foundation. His engagements include working as an HR Consultant to the Sindh Revenue Board, Govt. of Pakistan; Executive Director Strategy and Planning at KGT; Senior Projects Consultant HREVO, Afghanistan; Team Lead in BPS 19 at Sindh Revenue Board, for a World Bank Project; Senior Coordinator of Sindh Tax Revenue Mobilization Project of World Bank Pakistan (Organization Reforms); Micro Finance Institutional Consultant to KPMG, Pak; Management Adviser to ASA Micro-finance Institute; HR Consultant at FMFB, a subsidiary of AKDN, Kabul Afghanistan; International Training Adviser at the Afghanistan Institute of Banking and Finance, a subsidiary of Da’-Afghanistan Bank, Kabul, Afghanistan; Before proceeding to Afghanistan, he led several organizational development, training, and governance projects in Pakistan.
He reviewed HR service manuals for the Sindh Revenue Board, Bahria Foundation, Siddiqsons Denim Mills, and KGT a private limited company. He also developed a Training evaluation system for the Afghanistan Institute of Banking and Finance, a Performance management system for the Bahria Foundation, and Microfinance manuals for First Women Bank and Crescent Leasing Group. He authored four books in management and leadership, about ten training manuals, and has done business feasibility/research reports on micro-finance, organizational productivity and culture, organizational restructuring, strategic job analysis, and training needs analysis. He has published more than 60 articles.
